Academy/Lab: Test VEN Reporting Workflow
Hands-On Lab

Test VEN reporting workflow

This lab walks through the practical sequence of setting up a VEN profile, mapping devices, registering, and validating event/report behavior.

  1. 1

Create or select a VTN profile

Open the VEN Console and complete the VTN Profiles section first. Confirm the endpoint, VEN name, sampling interval, and event participation settings reflect the environment you want to test.

  2. 2

    Assign devices

Move to Devices and either create new devices or select shared DER device profiles. For reporting tests, confirm the selected devices expose the telemetry concept you want to publish.

  3. 3

    Register the VEN and poll

In VEN Runtime, create party registration and run a manual poll. Watch the status indicators so you know whether the VTN is actually responding before you test reporting behavior.

  4. 4

Register EiReport and send a report

Use the manual runtime buttons to register EiReport and then send a report. Check that the selected report type, RID, and timing assumptions line up with what the VTN expects.

  5. 5

    Inspect the runtime log

Review the runtime log and XML payloads to confirm the registration, poll, report, and acknowledgement flow are happening in the expected order.

Lab success criteria: You can explain which VTN profile was used, which devices were selected, what was reported, and how the runtime log supports the observed outcome.
